«Contemporary artist Svein Traserud, born in 1977 in the Norwegian town of Notodden where he still lives.
Sveins’ unusual talent is attracting attention for the unique vision expressed in his works. He always had a passion to create and “push” materials into new forms of expression by experimenting with different matter. His attraction to the use of polyester and eventually to epoxy resulted in the discovery that the plastic mass has a number of amazing opportunities. By combining the digital elements through manipulated prints with epoxy, he creates depth in layers, providing a frameless freedom. His methods are influenced by years of self-study and knowledge gained from a long apprenticeship with Norwegian artist Tor-Arne Moen. Before fully embracing his artistic ambitions, Svein lived life as a professional musician for many years, touring the world and appearing on a number of recordings.
His numerous group exhibitions include Notodden Centenary Exhibition at the Telemarksgalleriet in Notodden, Norway. Parallax AF International, London, UK, Inspiration at Telemark University, Norway.
Svein spent 2014 concentrating on ‘Herbjørnsruds Universe’, a collection of pictures commissioned by international award winning Norwegian author Hans Herbjørnsrud. The series is inspired by the authors short stories. One of the pictures – ‘Vannbæreren’ – was chosen for the cover of Herbjørnsruds’ latest book ‘Her kan alt skje’ (‘Anything Can Happen Here’), released through leading Norwegian publishing house Gyldendal. This is an ambitious collaboration where Norwegian art and literature collide, with the established author and the artist both giving the observer the opportunity to explore aspects of something unique. A compelling illustration of interaction within Norwegian culture.»
